World Premiere
April 21, 22 and 23, 2006
Hawai'i Theatre, Honolulu

Now playing: a 30-second commercial television spot, announcing the world premiere of Electric Blue. In co-operation with KHON (Fox) in Honolulu.

Electric Blue is a startling vision: the role of water in human life, as a creator, inspiration and challenge. Throughout history, across cultures and languages, the water element suffuses human experience. Electric Blue explores this mythic frontier with choreography, staging, lighting, aerobatics, music and humor that will delight audiences of all ages.

Venue was the Hawai'i Theatre, the oldest and most prestigious theatrical venue in the Pacific, a historic landmark recently restored to its romanesque grandeur. Spacious but intimate, with 1200 seats, perfect sightlines and advanced acoustics, the Theatre is an experience in itself. When it is filled with the mystery of IONA, it becomes a chamber of visions, a portal into the inner world.

The Hawai'i Theatre is one of the biggest supporters of IONA Contemporary Dance Theatre, over the past 20 years. In 2006, their participation in fundraising, staging and promotion of Electric Blue was critical to the production's success.
