A combination art gallery, dance, play and interactive theatre event -- IONA busts categories open again.

La Madonna presents eleven female archetypes, portrayed by dancers in full costume as living art exhibits. The audience moves from station to station at their own pace, invited to connect to Gaia, the earth goddess; to the virgin, the pregnant mother, to Kwan Yin (the Taoist mother), the nourisher, the dominatrix.

According to creative director Cheryl Flaharty, "We've got sacred, sexy, fruity -- another one has a washbucket full of milk. They are all different things that are off-shoots of that title of 'La Madonna' and where that went for me artistically. There's music playing the whole time, and the dancers are dancing -- some of them 'dancier' that others, some of them more minimalist."
